CNC Machined Components FAQ

What CNC machined components do you manufacture?

Rapid Manufacturing sources CNC machined components across every category: mechanical components (shafts, housings, brackets, gears), electrical components (housings, enclosures, connector bodies), fluid components (manifolds, valves, fittings), structural components (frames, chassis, plates), and specialty components for medical, defence, aerospace, and industrial applications. Components are custom-designed to your specifications and sourced through our Australian and global supplier network.

What materials are available for components?

We source components machined from: aluminium alloys (6061-T6, 7075-T6, 5052), stainless steel (303, 304, 316, duplex), carbon steel, tool steel, alloy steel, brass, bronze, copper, PEEK, nylon, acetal, Delrin, PTFE, and specialty alloys including Monel and Hastelloy. Specify your material or consult us for material recommendations based on your application.

What tolerances can you hold on precision components?

Standard CNC machining holds tolerances to ±0.05mm. High-precision components achieve ±0.01mm or better on critical features. Ultra-precision work with CMM verification achieves ±0.005mm. Tolerance capability depends on material, part geometry, and feature type. Specify your tolerance requirements on your quote request and we will confirm what is achievable.

Can you manufacture low-volume prototype components?

Yes, we specialize in prototype components. We manufacture 1-off prototypes, small pilot batches (5–50 units), and design-validation components. No minimum order quantity. Prototype components are typically completed within 5–10 business days. Tooling costs are minimal for prototype work.

What is the typical lead time for custom components?

Quote turnaround is 2 business days. Prototype components: 5–10 business days. Small batch components (10–100 units): 10–20 days. Production components (100+ units): 2–4 weeks depending on complexity and volume. Rush options available for qualified applications.

Do you offer assembly services for components?

We can arrange sub-assembly and final assembly of components through our partner network. Contact us to discuss your assembly requirements — we quote complete assembly packages including procurement of fasteners and consumables.
