Collar FAQ

What collar types can you manufacture?

We manufacture custom collars including shaft collars, set screw collars, clamping collars, two-piece collars, threaded collars, flanged collars, shoulder collars, and custom profile collars. All types available in single-off and production quantities.

What materials are best for high-torque collars?

Steel 4140 is the best choice for high-torque collars — excellent strength and toughness. Stainless steel 316 or 304 offers good torque capacity with corrosion resistance. Titanium provides lightweight high-strength for aerospace applications.

Can you manufacture collars with custom bore tolerances?

Yes. Custom bore tolerances are available — we can hold ±0.01mm on bore diameter. Tapered bores, step bores, and custom bore profiles are available for precision applications.

What is the typical lead time for custom collars?

Single-off custom collars are typically completed within 1–2 weeks from quote approval. Production runs of 50+ units are usually completed within 2–3 weeks due to simple geometry and fast machining.

Can you produce collars with keyways or set screw holes?

Yes. Collars with keyways, hex key pockets, set screw holes, and other custom features are standard. We manufacture all types of locking and positioning features.

Do you offer surface treatments for corrosion resistance?

Yes. Surface treatments include passivation for stainless steel, electroplating, anodising for aluminium, and protective coatings. Finish options are available and quoted separately.
