CNC Machining Services Australia — Prototype to Production

Rapid Manufacturing provides CNC machined parts across Australia, from single prototypes to production runs of 10,000+ parts. We source from a network of audited suppliers holding ISO 9001:2015 certification — with medical-grade (ISO 13485) and aerospace (AS9100-D) certified suppliers available. Every quote includes a free DFM analysis, and you'll receive pricing within 2 business days of uploading your STEP file. There is no minimum order quantity.

CNC Machining Capabilities

Our supplier network covers the full spectrum of CNC machining processes, from basic 3-axis milling to complex 5-axis simultaneous machining for aerospace and medical components.

3-Axis CNC Milling

Standard milling for prismatic parts, pockets, slots, and planar surfaces. Most cost-effective for simple to moderately complex geometry.

4-Axis CNC Milling

Rotary indexing for cylindrical parts and features on multiple faces without re-fixturing. Reduces setup time and improves consistency.

5-Axis CNC Milling

Simultaneous 5-axis for complex geometry, compound angles, and undercuts. Ideal for aerospace, medical, and turbine components.

CNC Turning

Precision turning for shafts, bushings, sleeves, flanges, and rotationally symmetric parts. Live tooling available for milled features.

Turn-Mill Centres

Combined turning and milling in a single setup for complex rotational parts with milled features, reducing fixturing errors.

EDM & Wire EDM

Electrical discharge machining for hardened materials, complex cavities, and intricate profiles that cannot be achieved by cutting tools.

Materials We Machine

Rapid Manufacturing can source and machine virtually any engineering material. Below are the most commonly requested, with typical grades and applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity for CNC machined parts?

There is no minimum order quantity at Rapid Manufacturing. We machine single prototypes just as readily as production runs of 10,000+ parts. Whether you need one part or ten thousand, we can accommodate your order.

How long does CNC prototyping take in Australia?

Standard lead time for CNC prototypes is 7–14 business days from quote approval, depending on part complexity and material. Rush orders (3–5 business days) are available. Quotations are provided within 2 business days of receiving your STEP file.

What file formats do you accept for CNC quoting?

We accept STEP (.stp, .step), IGES (.igs, .iges), SolidWorks (.sldprt), Fusion 360 exports, Parasolid (.x_t), and most other 3D CAD formats. We also accept 2D drawings in PDF or DXF for reference. STEP files are preferred for quoting accuracy.

Can you machine medical-grade parts?

Yes. Rapid Manufacturing has access to suppliers holding ISO 13485:2016 certification for medical device manufacturing. These suppliers maintain additional process controls, material traceability, and documentation required for medical-grade components.

What materials can you CNC machine?

We machine a comprehensive range of materials including aluminium alloys (6061-T6, 7075-T6, 5052), stainless steels (304, 316, 17-4 PH), carbon and alloy steels (1018, 4140, 4340), titanium (Grade 2, Ti-6Al-4V), engineering plastics (Delrin, Nylon, PEEK, PTFE, Polycarbonate), brass, and copper.

Do you offer DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback?

Yes. Every quote from Rapid Manufacturing includes a free DFM analysis. Our engineers review your design for features that may increase cost or risk quality issues — such as unnecessarily tight tolerances, deep cavities, or thin walls — and suggest practical modifications.

Can you handle both prototyping and production volumes?

Yes. Rapid Manufacturing handles orders from a single prototype part right through to production runs of 10,000+ parts. As volume increases, per-part pricing decreases. We can also support bridge production while you transition from prototype tooling to high-volume manufacturing.

Do you ship CNC machined parts internationally?

Yes. While our primary focus is serving Australian engineers and manufacturers, we ship to customers in over 20 countries. All parts are inspected and documented before dispatch.
