CNC Machined Couplings Australia

We manufacture custom CNC machined shaft couplings — rigid, flexible, gear, disc, and Oldham designs. All materials — aluminium, steel, stainless, titanium. Keyways, splines, dynamic balancing. Quote in 2 business days.

Couplings We Manufacture

We machine couplings for industrial machinery, automotive powertrains, aerospace systems, and robotics. Every coupling is custom-engineered for your shaft sizes and torque requirements.

Rigid Shaft Couplings

Precision alignment for direct-coupled motors. No misalignment tolerance.

Flexible Jaw Couplings

Elastomeric jaw insert absorbs misalignment and vibration. Common for motor drive systems.

Gear Couplings

High-torque capable with crowned teeth. Tight concentricity for precision machinery.

Disc Couplings

Flexible metal disc design. High-speed capable, minimal runout.

Oldham Couplings

Misalignment tolerance without side loads. Used in precision equipment.

Universal Joint Couplings

Angle-tolerant design for misaligned shafts. Torque transmission at angles.

Magnetic Couplings

Shaft-mounted magnet cups for sealed or hazardous environments.

Custom Coupling Adapters

Non-standard shaft size interfaces. Custom bores and keyways.

Materials Available for Couplings

Coupling materials are selected for torque capacity, speed capability, and environment.

Coupling Machining FAQ

What types of couplings can you manufacture?

We machine all major coupling types: rigid (precision alignment for direct-coupled motors), flexible jaw (misalignment tolerance, vibration damping), gear (high-torque with tight concentricity), disc (high-speed capable), Oldham (no axial loads), and universal joint couplings. Custom adapter couplings are also available to interface non-standard shaft diameters.

What materials are best for high-torque couplings?

Steel 4140 and 4340 are standard for high-torque applications — they provide maximum strength at minimum weight. Aluminium is suitable for light-duty applications where weight is critical. Stainless steel 17-4 PH offers corrosion resistance with high strength. Material selection depends on torque load, speed, and environment.

Can you balance couplings for high-speed applications?

Yes. Couplings for applications above 1,500 RPM are dynamically balanced to ISO 1940 Grade 1.0 or better. Balancing adds precision to the manufacturing process and typically adds 2–3 days to lead time. Balancing is essential for vibration control in high-speed machinery.

What is the typical lead time for custom couplings?

Simple rigid couplings typically ship within 5–7 business days. Flexible and gear couplings with keyways and balancing may take 7–15 business days depending on complexity and whether balancing is required. Lead time is confirmed in your formal quote.

Can you manufacture couplings with keyways or splines?

Yes. We cut standard and custom keyways, splines, and involute profiles. Keyway tolerances can be held to DIN 6885 or ISO 2491 standards. Spline profiles are verified with precision CMM inspection.

Do you offer prototype coupling testing?

We can arrange prototype testing through our partners. High-speed balancing, run-in testing, and torque verification are available. Most customers find our single-off coupling manufacturing suitable for immediate assembly and testing on their equipment.
