What materials are best for high-load rings?

Steel 4140 and 4340 are the standard choices for high-load rings — tensile strengths up to 655–1,200 MPa. Stainless steel 316 and 17-4 PH offer excellent load capacity with corrosion resistance. Bronze is ideal for low-friction bearing rings and sealing applications. Titanium Grade 5 provides extreme strength-to-weight ratio for aerospace rings. PEEK is suitable for medical and high-performance polymer ring applications.

What tolerances can you hold on ring diameters?

Standard CNC machining on rings achieves ±0.05mm on all diameter dimensions. Precision machining with grinding can hold ±0.01mm. For critical bearing rings or sealing rings, we recommend finishing operations to achieve ±0.005mm or better. Radial runout and concentricity are typically within ±0.05mm for standard machining — tighter control available on request.

What is the typical lead time for custom rings?

Quote turnaround is 2 business days. Once order is confirmed, lead times depend on ring complexity and current shop load. Simple rings typically deliver in 3–5 business days. Complex rings with multiple features may require 5–10 business days. Surface treatment and hardening adds additional time. Can you manufacture rings with custom profiles?

Yes. Custom ring profiles are a standard capability. We regularly machine rings with custom OD/ID combinations, grooves, shoulders, tapers, and complex internal geometry. Multi-profile rings (e.g., bearing rings with integral flanges or grooves) are produced in single setup with CNC turning and milling.

Do you offer surface treatments for wear resistance?

Yes. Surface treatments are managed as part of our supply service. Options include hard chrome plating (wear and corrosion resistance), nitriding (hardened surface layer), case hardening (carburising and hardening), and anodising (for aluminium rings).
