Pins We Manufacture

Complete range of precision pins for fastening, alignment, and shear applications.

Dowel Pins

Straight cylindrical pins for alignment and positioning. Hardened or unhardened.

Clevis Pins

Pins with eye or eyeholes for hinged or pivoting connections.

Cotter Pins

Split pins used with castellated nuts or slotted components.

Spring Pins

Roll-type (split) or solid spring pins that grip in press-fit holes.

Taper Pins

Conical pins for tight, positive locating of components.

Grooved Pins

Axial grooves allow controlled clamping without deformation.

Locking Pins

Spiral or keyed pins that lock axially against rotation.

Custom Profile Pins

Knurled, flanged, or specially shaped custom pins.

Pin FAQs

What pin types can you manufacture?

We manufacture all standard pin types: dowel pins (straight, hardened), clevis pins (with eye or without), cotter pins (split pins), spring pins (roll-type or solid), taper pins (conical), grooved pins, locking pins (spiral or keyed), and custom profile pins. We also produce metric and imperial sized pins. Specify the pin type and application, and we will select the appropriate manufacturing process.

What materials are best for high-shear pins?

Steel 4140 (hardened and tempered) is the standard choice for high-shear applications due to high tensile strength and impact resistance. Stainless steel 17-4 PH offers strength plus corrosion resistance. Tool steel (M2 or D2) hardened provides maximum shear strength where weight is not critical. For shear pins that deliberately fracture under overload, softer materials like aluminium 6061 or brass are used. Specify your shear load and we will recommend the material.

What tolerances can you hold on pin diameters?

Standard CNC turning holds ±0.02–0.05mm on pin diameter. Hardened pins (after heat treatment) are ground to ±0.01mm. Slip fit (ISO m6) or press fit (ISO p6) tolerances are standard. Specify your required fit class and we will machine accordingly.

What is the typical lead time for custom pins?

Lead time for custom pins is 3–7 business days for prototype to small volumes. High-volume orders (1000+) are optimized for cost and delivered on longer timelines negotiated upfront. Expedited turnarounds available for critical applications. Request a quote with your delivery date.

Can you manufacture pins with custom head styles?

Yes. Custom head styles include knurled heads, chamfered heads, countersunk heads, or integral flanges. CNC turning and milling can create any head profile you specify. Provide a drawing or description of your custom head style and we will manufacture it.

Do you offer surface hardening for wear pins?

Yes. Wear pins can be case-hardened, induction-hardened, or flame-hardened depending on the material and depth required. We work with heat-treat partners to achieve hardness levels (typically 45–65 HRC) needed for wear-resistant applications. Hardening is applied after rough machining to maintain dimensional accuracy after treatment.
