What materials are best for high-load washers?
Steel 4140 (hardened) is the standard for high-load applications due to excellent spring properties and strength. Stainless steel 17-4 PH offers high load capacity plus corrosion resistance for marine applications. Bronze is used for thrust washers in bearings where soft-on-steel is required. Spring steel is ideal for lock and spring washers. Choose based on load, environment, and temperature.
What tolerances can you hold on washer thickness?
Standard CNC machining holds ±0.05mm on washer thickness. For tightly stacked washers or precision shim applications, we hold ±0.02mm. Spring washers (Belleville, wave) maintain thickness within ±0.02mm. Specify your tolerance and we will achieve it.
What is the typical lead time for custom washers?
Lead time for custom washers is 3–7 business days for prototypes and small volumes. Flat washers and simple profiles: 3–5 days. Spring washers and complex profiles: 5–7 days. Can you manufacture washers with custom OD/ID ratios?
Yes. Custom outer diameter (OD) to inner diameter (ID) ratios are standard. We machine washers for any ID from 1mm to 100mm, with OD and thickness specified on your drawing. Custom profiles including tapered edges, bevels, or multi-diameter washers are also available.
Do you offer surface finishing for washers?
