What materials are best for high-wear bushings?

SAE 660 bronze (phosphor bronze) is the industry standard for high-wear bushings due to its excellent self-lubricating properties and hardness. Aluminium bronze offers higher strength where steel shafts are involved. For maximum wear resistance, tool steel M2 or D2 hardened bushings are used. PEEK and Delrin plastic bushings provide maintenance-free, low-friction operation without lubrication. Choose the material based on shaft material, load, speed, and lubrication availability.

Can you manufacture self-lubricating bushings?

Yes. Self-lubricating bushings are a core product. We supply oil-impregnated bronze bushings (SAE 660, aluminium bronze, phosphor bronze) where the bronze matrix holds 20–25% of its weight in machine oil. These bushings release oil during operation, eliminating the need for external lubrication. We also supply PEEK and Delrin plastic bushings that exhibit naturally low friction coefficients. All are CNC precision-manufactured to your exact specifications.

What tolerances can you hold on bushing IDs and ODs?

Standard CNC bushing machining holds ±0.05mm on ID and OD. For tight-fit bushings where shaft interference is critical, we hold ±0.02mm. Grinding operations can achieve ±0.01mm on both bore and OD. Specify your tolerance requirement and fit class (ISO 286) on your drawing, and we will recommend the most cost-effective approach.

What is the typical lead time for custom bushings?

Standard lead time for 1–5 custom bushings is 5–10 business days from order confirmation. Expedited turnarounds of 2–3 business days are available on simple geometries for an express fee. Can you produce bushings with oil grooves?
