Valve Component FAQs
What valve types can you manufacture components for?
We manufacture components for all major valve types: ball valves (bodies, stems, seats, balls), gate valves (bodies, wedges, stems), globe valves (bodies, plugs, seats), check valves (bodies, poppets, springs), butterfly valves (bodies, discs, stems), relief valves, pressure regulators, and specialty valves. Specify the valve type and duty, and we will recommend appropriate materials and design features.
What materials are best for corrosive valve applications?
For seawater and chloride environments: duplex 2205 or super duplex 2507 offer superior corrosion resistance compared to standard stainless steel 316. For chemical processing: Inconel 625 or 718 resist both corrosion and high temperatures. For extreme corrosion: Monel 400 or titanium are the ultimate choices. We specify materials based on your process fluid, pressure, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
What tolerances can you hold on valve sealing surfaces?
Standard machining holds ±0.05mm on general surfaces. For seating surfaces and critical areas, we hold ±0.02mm. Lapped or polished seating surfaces can achieve ±0.01mm or better with Ra 0.4µm or tighter. Specify your sealing requirement and we will recommend the appropriate finishing process.
What is the typical lead time for valve components?
Lead time for one-off valve components is 7–15 business days depending on complexity and material. Simple valve bodies: 7–10 days. Complex multi-passage bodies or hard-to-machine materials (Inconel, titanium): 10–15 days. Expedited services available for critical applications. Request a quote with your required delivery date.
Can you manufacture valve parts to API standards?
Yes. We manufacture valve components to API 6D (pipeline), API 608 (ball), API 600 (gate), and other standards. Material certifications, dimensional reports, and traceability documentation are available. Specify the applicable standard on your drawing or quote request, and we will plan accordingly.
Do you offer surface finishing for valve seats?
Yes. Valve seat finishing includes lapping, polishing, and hard-facing. We can machine a spherical or conical seating surface to ±0.02mm, then lap it to achieve the required surface finish Ra 0.2µm or tighter. Hard-facing (stellite or tungsten carbide) is also available for high-wear applications. Discuss your sealing requirement during quoting.
