What materials are best for pneumatic components?
Aluminium 6061-T6 is the industry standard for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds — lightweight, excellent machinability, good corrosion resistance, and low cost. Stainless steel 316 is specified when corrosion resistance is critical (food, pharmaceutical, marine). Brass is used for fittings and connectors. Steel 4140 is used for piston rods where strength is required. Delrin and PEEK provide non-metallic sealing surfaces and low friction.
What tolerances can you hold on cylinder bores?
Pneumatic cylinder bore tolerance is critical for seal performance. We hold ±0.05mm as standard on cylinder bores. For applications requiring tighter control, we achieve ±0.025mm. Honing can achieve ±0.01mm on bore diameter and roundness. Surface finish is typically Ra 0.4–0.8µm for optimal seal contact and long piston life.
Can you manufacture pneumatic parts to ISO standards?
Yes. We design and manufacture to ISO 4401 (valve cavity geometry), ISO 6432 (mini cylinder dimensions), ISO 15552 (large bore cylinder dimensions), and other relevant pneumatic standards. Do you offer anodising for aluminium pneumatic parts?
Yes. Type II anodising (clear, black, or coloured) is available for aluminium cylinders and manifolds. Anodising provides corrosion resistance and wear resistance on sliding surfaces. Type III hard anodising is available for high-wear applications. All anodising is arranged through our network and quoted as part of your component order.
Can you manufacture custom pneumatic manifolds?
Yes. We design and manufacture custom pneumatic manifolds with integrated cavity ports, vent ports, and internal galleries. Your manifold is designed to ISO cavity standards and integrates with standard solenoid valves and control logic. CAD support is included during design review.
