All bars are CNC machined to your exact specifications.

What materials are best for high-strength bars?

Steel 4140 and 4340 are the standard choices for high-strength bars — tensile strengths up to 655–1,200 MPa depending on heat treatment. Stainless steel 316 offers good strength (517 MPa) with superior corrosion resistance. 17-4 PH stainless provides exceptional strength (1310 MPa) for aerospace applications. Titanium Grade 5 is ideal for extreme-strength-to-weight applications. Aluminium 7075-T6 offers the best strength in a lightweight material (572 MPa).

What tolerances can you hold on bar diameters?

Standard CNC machining on bars achieves ±0.05mm on diameter dimensions. Precision machining with grinding can hold ±0.01mm. For critical applications requiring super-precision, we offer precision grinding to ±0.005mm or better. Cylindricity and straightness are typically within standard tolerances — tighter control is available on request.

What is the typical lead time for custom bars?

Quote turnaround is 2 business days. Once order is confirmed, lead times depend on bar complexity and current shop load. Simple round or square bars typically deliver in 3–5 business days. Complex multi-feature bars may require 5–10 business days. Precision grinding adds 2–5 business days. Rush lead times are available — contact our engineering team for expedited scheduling.

Can you manufacture bars with custom end features?

Yes. We regularly machine bars with custom end features including threads, flats, tapers, shoulders, grooves, knurling, and custom profiles. End-face features like counterbores, taps, and holes are standard. CNC turning and milling allow single-setup machining for complex end features.

Do you offer surface finishing for bars?

Yes. Surface finishing is managed as part of our supply service. Options include surface grinding (Ra 0.8µm), polishing, hard chrome plating, nickel plating, and anodising (for aluminium). Specify your finish requirement on your drawing or in your quote request.
