Why Source Machined Parts Through Rapid Manufacturing?

Managed Supply — Not Just a Quote

We project-manage your parts from drawing through delivery. One contact, one invoice, one point of accountability — regardless of which supplier produces your parts.

ISO 9001:2015 Certified Network

Every supplier in our network holds minimum ISO 9001:2015 certification. Medical and aerospace-certified suppliers (ISO 13485, AS9100-D) are available for regulated industries.

Free DFM Analysis

Every quote includes a design for manufacturability review. We identify features that will increase cost or risk quality, and suggest practical changes before you commit to production.

No Minimum Order

Single prototypes receive the same managed service as 1,000-piece production runs. Start with one part, scale to production with the same managed process and supplier relationship.

Competitive Pricing via Network

Access to 50+ suppliers means we can match your part to the most cost-effective capable supplier — not just the nearest machine shop. Network competition drives better pricing.

Full Traceability

Material certs, CMM reports, first article inspection, and supplier audit records available on request. Complete supply chain transparency for regulated and critical applications.

Machined Parts FAQ

How do I get machined parts made in Australia?

Upload your STEP file and 2D drawing to our quote form at rapidmanufacturing.com.au/quote. We review your design, select the right supplier from our ISO 9001:2015 certified network, manage production, inspect the parts, and ship directly to your door. You receive a detailed quote within 2 business days.

What types of machined parts can you supply?

We supply precision machined parts across all CNC machining processes: CNC milling (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis), CNC turning, Swiss turning, EDM, wire EDM, grinding, and boring. Materials include aluminium alloys, stainless steel, mild steel, alloy steel, titanium, copper, brass, and engineering plastics. From simple brackets and shafts to complex multi-setup aerospace components.

What tolerances can you hold on machined parts?

Standard CNC machined parts are produced to ±0.1mm general tolerances or ±0.05mm standard precision. High-precision machining achieves ±0.01mm on critical dimensions. Ultra-precision work with CMM verification can achieve ±0.005mm or tighter. Always specify your critical tolerances explicitly on your 2D drawing — we review every drawing before quoting.

Do you supply machined parts for one-off prototypes or production runs?

Both. We have no minimum order quantity — single prototypes are quoted and managed with the same care as production runs. We regularly supply single-off development parts, small batches of 5–50, and production runs of hundreds or thousands of parts. Our managed supply service scales with your project.

How long does it take to receive machined parts in Australia?

Standard lead time is 7–14 business days from order confirmation. Rush machining (3–5 business days) is available for urgent requirements. Complex parts, exotic materials, or large quantities may require 3–4 weeks. We quote lead time alongside price so you can plan your project timeline before committing.

Is quality inspection included with my machined parts?

Yes. All parts go through incoming inspection before dispatch. CMM reports, first article inspection (FAI), and material certificates are available on request. Our suppliers hold ISO 9001:2015 as a minimum; ISO 13485 (medical) and AS9100-D (aerospace) certified suppliers are available for regulated industries.

What file formats do you accept for machined parts quotes?

STEP files are preferred for 3D geometry. We also accept IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks (.sldprt), and most standard 3D CAD formats. A 2D PDF drawing with tolerances, surface finish callouts, and notes is required alongside any 3D file. We can quote from 2D drawings alone for simple parts, but the STEP + 2D combination gives the most accurate quote.

What is the difference between using Rapid Manufacturing vs finding a local machine shop?

A local machine shop quotes, machines, and delivers your parts from one facility. Rapid Manufacturing is a managed supply service — we access a network of 50+ vetted, ISO 9001:2015 certified suppliers to match your part to the best-fit machine, skill set, and availability. This means faster lead times, more competitive pricing, and access to specialty processes (5-axis, Swiss turning, EDM, grinding) without hunting down individual shops.
