Manufacturing on Demand Australia
Upload your drawing. Get a quote in 2 business days. Receive finished, inspected parts in 7–14 days. A managed manufacturing service — not just an automated quoting platform.
Managed Supply vs Automated Platform
Automated quoting platforms process your file through algorithms. Rapid Manufacturing uses engineers. The difference matters for complex or tight-tolerance parts.
| Feature | Automated Platform | Rapid Manufacturing |
|---|---|---|
| Quote review | Algorithmic — no human review | Engineer reviews every drawing |
| DFM analysis | Basic flags only | Full DFM with suggestions included free |
| Complex parts | Often mispriced or rejected | Handled with appropriate supplier selection |
| Quality management | Supplier-managed | We manage quality through production |
| Problem escalation | Ticket system | Direct engineer contact |
| Repeat orders | Re-quote each time | Retained records, faster repeat quotes |
| Certifications | Varies by supplier | ISO 9001:2015 minimum, AS9100/13485 available |

What is manufacturing on demand?
Manufacturing on demand means ordering custom parts as you need them, without holding raw material or finished goods inventory. You upload a drawing, receive a quote, confirm the order, and receive finished parts — typically in 7–14 business days. There is no minimum order quantity and no commitment to future orders. Rapid Manufacturing provides on-demand manufacturing as a managed service: we source, manage production, inspect, and deliver your parts from a single point of contact.
How does Rapid Manufacturing compare to Xometry or similar platforms?
Automated quoting platforms like Xometry use algorithms to price and route jobs. Rapid Manufacturing uses engineering-reviewed quotes with DFM analysis — a real engineer looks at your drawing before quoting, which catches issues that automated systems miss. We also provide a managed supply service: one contact who oversees production, handles problems, and coordinates delivery. For complex or tight-tolerance parts, human review and managed supply consistently outperforms automated platforms.
How fast can I get parts on demand?
Quotes are returned within 2 business days of drawing submission. Standard production is 7–14 business days from order confirmation. Rush manufacturing (3–5 business days) is available for urgent requirements at a 30–60% premium. Same-day or next-day quotes are available for critical enquiries — contact us directly. Lead time depends on part complexity, material, and quantity.
Can I order on demand parts in very small quantities?
Yes. There is no minimum order quantity. We supply single prototype parts, batches of 2–10, and production quantities of hundreds or thousands. On-demand manufacturing is particularly valuable for low-volume requirements where maintaining inventory is impractical — order what you need, when you need it.
What manufacturing processes are available on demand?
Our on-demand manufacturing covers CNC milling (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis), CNC turning, Swiss turning, wire and sinker EDM, precision grinding, sheet metal fabrication (laser cutting, bending, welding), and 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS metal printing). All processes available from a single quote request — no need to manage multiple suppliers.
Is quality controlled on demand manufactured parts?
Yes. All on-demand parts go through our standard quality process: DFM analysis before production, ISO 9001:2015 certified suppliers, incoming inspection before dispatch. CMM reports and material certificates available on request. On-demand does not mean unmanaged — every order is actively managed through production.
Do you offer repeat on demand orders without resubmitting drawings?
Yes. Once your drawing is in our system and a part has been produced, repeat orders are straightforward. We retain your drawing, inspection records, and supplier information between orders. Simply contact us with your part number and quantity — we will quote turnaround time and price from existing records, significantly reducing the lead time for repeat on-demand orders.
