Contract Manufacturing Australia

Outsource your parts production without the overhead of in-house machinery. We manage sourcing, production, quality inspection, and delivery — you receive finished parts. ISO 9001:2015 certified network.

Why Outsource Manufacturing?

Maintaining in-house machining capacity is expensive, inflexible, and a distraction from your core business. Contract manufacturing through Rapid Manufacturing gives your engineering and procurement teams access to a full suite of manufacturing processes — on demand, without capital expenditure.

No Capital Outlay

Avoid the cost of purchasing and maintaining CNC machines, tooling, inspection equipment, and skilled machinists. Pay only for parts you need, when you need them.

  • No machine depreciation
  • No tooling investment
  • No headcount overhead
  • Variable cost vs fixed cost

Access to Any Process

Our supplier network covers the full range of manufacturing processes. Need 5-axis milling today and Swiss turning next month? We have qualified suppliers for both.

  • CNC milling and turning
  • EDM and grinding
  • Sheet metal and casting
  • Metal 3D printing

Managed Quality

ISO 9001:2015 certified suppliers, DFM analysis, incoming inspection, and full documentation. Quality is managed into the supply chain, not checked at your goods receiving dock.

  • ISO 9001:2015 minimum
  • DFM analysis included
  • CMM inspection available
  • Material certification

Everything We Handle For You

From the moment you upload your drawing, Rapid Manufacturing manages every step of the manufacturing process.

Technical Drawing Review

Every drawing is reviewed by our engineering team before quoting. We identify tolerance stack-ups, difficult features, and design elements that can be simplified without functional impact.

Supplier Selection

We match your part to the best-fit supplier based on process capability, material expertise, capacity, and lead time. No one supplier is right for every job.

Production Scheduling

We manage production milestones, communicate with suppliers, and monitor progress. You receive updates — not supplier excuses.

Incoming Inspection

Parts are inspected before leaving our supply chain. Critical dimensions are checked against your drawing. Non-conforming parts are rejected and remade.

Documentation Package

Material certifications, CMM reports, first article inspection, heat treatment records, and surface finish measurements — available on request for every order.

Delivery to Your Door

Parts are packed and shipped directly to your specified delivery address anywhere in Australia. Freight tracking provided.

Contract Manufacturing Capabilities

Our network covers the full range of precision manufacturing processes needed for complex mechanical components.

Contract Manufacturing FAQ

What is contract manufacturing and how does it work in Australia?

Contract manufacturing means outsourcing the production of your parts or products to a third-party manufacturing partner rather than producing them in-house. In Australia, Rapid Manufacturing provides a managed contract manufacturing service — you send your drawings and specifications, and we handle supplier selection, production management, quality inspection, and delivery. You get finished parts without owning or operating machinery.

What types of parts can be contract manufactured through your service?

We contract manufacture CNC machined parts (milling, turning, Swiss turning, EDM, grinding), sheet metal fabricated parts (laser cutting, bending, welding), cast parts (die casting, sand casting), and 3D printed parts (FDM, SLA, SLS, DMLS metal printing). For most mechanical component requirements in metals and engineering plastics, we can manage the full supply process from your drawing to finished parts on your shelf.

Why should I outsource manufacturing instead of using a local machine shop directly?

A single machine shop is limited by its equipment, capacity, and skill set. Rapid Manufacturing gives you access to a network of 50+ vetted, ISO 9001:2015 certified suppliers — so we can always match your part to the right process, whether that is 5-axis milling, Swiss turning, wire EDM, or precision grinding. We manage everything so your engineering team focuses on design, not supplier management. You also gain competitive pricing through network competition rather than being tied to one shop's rates.

What is the minimum quantity for contract manufacturing?

There is no minimum quantity. We manage contract manufacturing for single prototypes, small batches of 5–50 parts, and production runs of hundreds or thousands of parts. For repeat production, we can establish ongoing supply arrangements with scheduled releases, kanban replenishment, or blanket purchase orders to manage your inventory requirements efficiently.

How do you ensure quality on contract manufactured parts?

All suppliers hold ISO 9001:2015 certification as a minimum. Before any order, we conduct a technical review of your drawing and provide DFM feedback to eliminate design-related quality risks. During production, we manage supplier milestones and conduct incoming inspection before dispatch. CMM reports, first article inspection, and material certificates are available on request. For regulated industries, ISO 13485 or AS9100-D certified suppliers are selected.

Can you handle contract manufacturing for ongoing production supply?

Yes. Many of our customers use us for ongoing production supply of machined components, releasing orders monthly or quarterly. We maintain tooling offsets, inspection records, and supplier qualifications between orders so each release runs without delay. For high-volume or time-critical supply chains, we can discuss safety stock, lead time guarantees, and dedicated supplier arrangements.

Is my IP protected when I outsource manufacturing?

Yes. All suppliers in our network sign NDAs before receiving your drawings or CAD files. We never share your files between customers or use them for any purpose other than manufacturing your parts. For sensitive projects, we can also supply parts in split form — different suppliers machining different sub-features — so no single supplier has visibility of the complete assembly.
