Frequently Asked Questions

Can you supply CNC machined parts for mining operations in the Pilbara?

Yes. Rapid Manufacturing supplies CNC machined parts to mining operations across the Pilbara, Hunter Valley, Bowen Basin, and other major resource regions. Parts are shipped directly to site or to your maintenance facility. For urgent breakdown requirements, rush manufacturing with 3–5 day lead times is available, with air freight to remote sites.

What CNC machined parts are commonly needed for mining operations?

Common CNC machined parts for mining include: shaft sleeves and bearing housings for conveyor drives and pump sets; impellers and wear rings for slurry and dewatering pumps; hydraulic cylinder sleeves, pistons, and end caps; crusher liners and wear plates; gearbox components and pinion shafts; coupling hubs and flanges; and custom wear-resistant components for ore handling equipment. Many of these parts are machined in hard materials like 4140 alloy steel, AR400, Bisalloy 400/500, manganese steel, and chrome iron.

How quickly can you supply urgent replacement parts for a breakdown situation?

For urgent breakdown situations, Rapid Manufacturing can prioritise rush manufacturing with 3–5 business day lead times for most standard part geometries. For critical single-machine shutdowns, same-day or next-day quoting is available — contact us directly rather than using the online form for breakdown emergencies. Lead time achievability depends on material availability, part complexity, and machining requirements. Parts can be shipped via overnight freight to site.

Can you machine Bisalloy and AR400 wear plate materials?

Yes. Rapid Manufacturing has access to suppliers with experience machining high-hardness wear-resistant steels including Bisalloy 400, Bisalloy 500, AR400, AR450, and AR500 plate. These materials require carbide tooling, reduced cutting speeds, and experienced operators — not all general machine shops will accept them. We can also supply machined components in Hadfield manganese steel (austenitic manganese) for applications requiring work-hardening wear resistance.

Do you supply material test reports and traceability for mining parts?

Yes. For mining and resources applications, Rapid Manufacturing can provide full material traceability including mill test reports (MTRs) showing chemical composition and mechanical properties, heat/batch number traceability, and dimensional inspection reports. This documentation is particularly important for pressure-containing components, safety-critical lifting equipment parts, and components on regulated plant. Request documentation requirements at time of quoting.

Can you reverse-engineer and reproduce obsolete mining equipment parts?

Yes. Reverse engineering is a common requirement in mining and resources, where OEM parts may be discontinued, have long lead times, or be prohibitively expensive. Rapid Manufacturing can work from a physical sample (measurement and CMM scanning where required), worn part drawings, or OEM documentation. We produce the part drawing and manufacture to it. This approach is cost-effective for critical replacement components with no active OEM supply.

What is the best material for slurry pump impellers?

Slurry pump impeller material depends on the ore type and pH. High-chrome white iron (27–30% Cr) is common for abrasive, neutral-pH slurries. Rubber-lined or rubber impellers suit fine particle slurries with lower abrasive loading. 316 stainless steel is used for chemically aggressive environments. Duplex stainless (2205) offers improved corrosion-erosion resistance in acidic or chloride environments. Rapid Manufacturing can machine impellers in stainless, duplex, and some chrome irons — contact us with your specific application for material advice.

Do you supply CNC machined parts for FIFO site maintenance teams?

Yes. Many of our mining industry customers supply parts to FIFO maintenance teams. We can ship directly to site addresses in remote mining regions, package parts securely for freight, and provide documentation to support incoming inspection on site. For predictive maintenance programs, Rapid Manufacturing can establish standing orders or blanket purchase order arrangements for regularly consumed components.
